Wisconsin Highway 35 now open from Genoa to Stoddard

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced that the Highway 35 project between Genoa and Stoddard has now been completed, and within its scheduled timeframe. The 6.8-mile segment of that highway was closed beginning in April of this year.

The DOT said the $14.4 million project involved resurfacing the highway, replacing four bridges, and extensive road work within the community of Stoddard, resulting in lengthy detours. While the road is now open to traffic, Wisconsin DOT officials say there are still a few days left of clean-up work and equipment removal by workers. Drivers are urged to be aware of their presence around the highway and to travel the roadway safely.

Waukon volleyball team deals directly with impact of COVID-19 during 5-14 season

A 2020 campaign that started off so strong for the Waukon volleyball team with three straight match wins and four victories in the season’s first five matches eroded away to just a single win in the net Tribe’s final 14 matches, but carried even greater concern in the final two weeks of this fall’s 5-14 overall record. That concern went far beyond just volleyball and a win-loss record when a positive COVID-19 test from one of this season’s varsity players put the entire varsity team in quarantine for the final two weeks of the season, although all of those impacted came through that health scare with little more than just missed matches and school attendance.
