The Waukon football team played its most balanced game of the season, an effort that resulted in the Indians’ first victory of their 2014 campaign, 40-16, over Class 3A Crestwood at home Friday, September 12. Amassing a fairly consistent 195 yards through the air once again, this time the gridiron Tribe complemented that air attack with a nearly equal 182 yards on the ground to more than double-up the visiting Cadets in total yards, 377-158, as well as on the scoreboard.
The Indians are scheduled to open Class 2A District 3 play at a recently familiar foe from the last two play-off postseasons, Dyersville Beckman, this Friday, September 19. The Blazers are off to a 2-1 start this season, including a 14-0 loss to Western Dubuque in Week 2 and wins of 42-0 and 30-0 over Maquoketa and Oelwein, that win over Oelwein coming this past Friday.
