Jenny Jeanne (Conlon) Manning, 51, of Harpers Ferry died peacefully with her family at her side Sunday, September 21, 2014 at her home in Harpers Ferry. Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, September 25 at St. Ann - St. Joseph Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry, with Rev. John Moser as the Celebrant. Burial followed at St. Joseph Paint Rock Cemetery, rural Harpers Ferry.
Jenny was born November 23, 1962 to Rodger and Ann (Koenig) Conlon in Dubuque. She graduated from Wahlert High School in Dubuque, attended Capri College for Cosmetology and graduated from Loras College in Dubuque with a business degree. Jenny settled in McGregor and worked as a cosmetologist in her own shop, “Jenny’s Shear Magic,” where she enjoyed her elderly clientele and the surrounding community.
Jenny was united in marriage with Steve Manning July 15, 1995 and the couple was blessed with their son, Jacob, March 27, 1997, who was Jenny’s pride and joy until the time of her death, continuing to ask for him and light up when hearing his voice or even his name, even towards the end. Jenny was the captain of the River Queen Women Pool League for 19 years and she loved fishing for Northern Pike.
Jenny is survived by her husband, Steve, of Harpers Ferry; her son, Jacob, still at home; two step-sons, Jason (Ale) Manning and Jayme (Heather) Manning; a step-grandson, Jason, Jr.; her mother-in-law, Evelyn Manning; her brothers-in-law, Phil Larson, George (Laurie) Manning, Vince (Mary) Manning and Ray (Patty) Manning; her sisters-in-law, Linda Manning, Mary (Ed) Blake, Susie (Larry) Blake and Jean (Gerald) Dotzler; her special aunt and uncle, Michael and Sharon Conlon of Dubuque; special nieces, Michelle (Kyle) Fitzgerald and Tracy Larson; her nephew, Peter Conlon; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents, Rodger Conlon and Ann Westemeier; her brother, David Conlon; her sister, Diane Larson; her dog, Zach; and her cat, Spencer.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing assisted the family with arrangements.
