In its only competition of the week, the Kee volleyball team hosted a “battle of the birds” Thursday, October 2 when the Clayton Ridge Eagles flew into Lansing for an Upper Iowa Conference match-up. A formidable Eagle front line that featured a pair of 5’11” seniors and a 6’3” sophomore proved to weigh heavily in Kee being swept in three straight sets by scores of 12-25, 15-25 and 20-25.
Falling to an 8-8 overall record, 3-3 in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play, the Hawks are scheduled for one of their busiest weeks of the season. That busy week includes a Tuesday, October 7 date at West Central in Maynard and a Thursday, October 9 road date at Edgewood-Colesburg before finishing up with the Saturday, October 11 Hudson Tournament. The Hawks will then wrap up their dual match regular season hosting Starmont Tuesday, October 14 before their UIC Tournament at Starmont Saturday, October 18 and then opening postseason tournament play with their Class 1A Regional Tournament beginning Tuesday, October 21 at home against Central Elkader.
