The Waukon boys cross country team competed in cold, windy conditions in a rare Saturday meet at Cresco this past weekend. The Indians were without the services of sophomore Austin Day and ran to a third-place finish with 101 team points behind a strong pack performance from meet champion Charles City. Sophomore Tyler O’Neill was a top-10 finisher for the Indians, placing eighth in the 64-runner field in a time of 18:33.30. The Indians’ varsity team score was wrapped up in a remaining pack effort of four runners who finished within five places and just 12 seconds of one another. The Indians were scheduled to compete at the South Winneshiek Invitational Tuesday, October 7 before preparing for the Northeast Iowa Conference Meet Tuesday, October 14 being held at Decorah this year. The Tribe will then prepare for its Class 2A State Qualifying Meet set for Thursday, October 23.
