In a battle of teams each looking for their first Class 2A District 3 win of the season Friday, October 3, the Waukon football team left its Waterloo Columbus hosts still winless on the season. In a reversal of what has played out in prior games, the football Indians racked up more than double the yards it gained on the ground than through the air, also taking advantage of five interceptions to help post a 44-14 victory over the host Sailors.
Improving to a 2-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in District 3 play, the Indians will return home this Friday, October 10 to host top-10 rated New Hampton. The Chickasaws sport a 5-1 overall record, that lone loss coming to Class 1A top-five rated South Winneshiek, 18-7, in non-district play several weeks ago. New Hampton comes off a 42-14 home win over Oelwein this past Friday, October 3.
