Laura "Hope" Griffin

Laura “Hope” Griffin, 84, of Waukon, formerly of Rochester, MN, died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 15 at 11 a.m. at Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester, MN. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 14 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, where there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Laura Hope Griffin was born October 17, 1930 in Waukon, the daughter of Fred and Ethel Hope (Sadler) Weymiller. She attended school in New Albin, graduated from Waukon High School in 1948, and attended Waukon Junior College.
January 31, 1950, she married Jack Joseph Griffin at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. They moved to Rochester, MN in 1977, where she worked at IBM for 15 years. Hope was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester. She enjoyed dancing, cooking and spending time at their cabin in Lake City, MN. Hope loved spending time with her family, especially making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Mike Griffin of Rochester, MN, Linda (Jim Regan) Johnson of Waukon, Carey (Mary) Griffin of Eyota, MN and Joe (Kim) Griffin of Rochester, MN; six grandchildren, Catherine (Andy) Sell of Rochester, MN, Greg (Tonya) Griffin of Rochester, MN, Bobby (Lori) Johnson of Waukon, Amy (Doug) Lenzendorf of Eastman, WI, and Jeremy Griffin and Kelly Griffin, both of Rochester, MN; eight great-grandchildren, Pieper and Parker Sell, Nathan and Owen Griffin, Cameron and Colton Johnson, and Dawson and Drew Lenzendorf; two sisters, Evelyn Wild of Waukon and Nancy Collins of Racine, WI; and two brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Weymiller, both of New Albin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack, who died in 2013; four sisters, Helen Campbell, Lorna Vichlach, Betty Smerud and Shirley Bulman; and two brothers, Fred and Lee Weymiller.
Casketbearers are Doug Lenzendorf, Bob Johnson, Greg and Jeremy Griffin, Dennis Mahr and Jim Regan.
