Olson, Butler joined in marriage

Annie Olson and Ben Butler of Grinnell were joined in marriage November 8, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Ames by Father Jon Seda.
Parents of the bride are Mick and Mary Olson of Postville; the bride’s grandparents are Bob and the late Bernadine Heffern and Milton and Donna Mae Olson. Parents of the groom are Bryan and Linda Butler of Ankeny.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an Allure Bridals embellished cutout lace gown. The fit-and-flare silhouette was detailed with Swarovski crystal beading at the empire waist and at the hem. The gown featured elegant buttons down the back into a chapel-length train. She wore a waist-length veil that was previously worn by the sisters of the groom for their weddings.
Bridesmaids wore sleeveless, knee-length black taffeta dresses. The bride carried a red clutch bouquet and the bridesmaids carried clutch bouquets of champagne hydrangeas. Groomsmen and others in the wedding party wore corsages and boutonnieres of red roses. All flower arrangements were made by the bride and her mother.
The bride’s sister, Megan Hanson, was the Maid of Honor. Jarod Murray, friend of the couple, was Best Man.
A reception was held following the ceremony at the Iowa State University Alumni Center in Ames.
The bride is a 2007 graduate of Valley High School and a 2011 graduate of Iowa State University, where she also earned her master’s degree in 2013. She is currently employed at Grinnell College.
