John Berg

John P. Berg, 72, of Marshall, WI died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, March 2 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, with Rev. John Moser as the Celebrant. Burial followed at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing.
John Peter, the son of Barney and Bernice (Albright) Berg, was born July 27, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from high school in 1960. John was united in marriage with Colleen Guider in 1971 in Kansas City, MO. He was a supervisor with Winnebago Industries for several years before becoming employed with Ruan Transportation and retiring in 2006.
John was a good natured man who loved a good joke or story. Family was very important to John. He loved spending time with his wife and enjoyed keeping up with his children’s activities. John was an avid reader of non-fiction books, going to museums, detailing his car, caring for his lawn, playing poker, sports and traveling.
John is survived by his wife, Colleen, of Marshall, WI; three sons, Michael Berg of Iowa City, Wayne (Susan Matiak) Berg of Madison, WI and Allen (Waukima) Berg of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Jack, Taylor, Aaron, Alex and Emma Berg; a sister, Carol Bergen of Minneapolis, MN; a niece, Nadine Hazel of Minneapolis, MN; and a nephew, Joseph Hazel of Dallas, TX. John was preceded in death by his parents.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing assisted the family with arrangements.
