Linda Peterson

Linda Peterson, 65, of New Albin died Friday, April 10, 2015 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18 at St. Joseph's Cemetery in New Albin followed by a gathering of family and friends at noon in the New Albin Community Center.
Linda was born February 28, 1950 to John and Rita (Smerud) Carroll. She grew up in New Albin and attended St. George High School and Northern Iowa Community College in Calmar. She married David (Pete) Peterson in 1973 and moved to Bourbonnais, IL. After 27 years they returned to New Albin to retire.
Past employments included Eastern Allamakee School District, Northern Engraving in Lansing and as an Illinois election judge. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW in New Albin as well as Girl Scout leader and Learning Center volunteer in Bradley, IL. Linda was an accomplished crocheter and avid card player.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Peterson; her parents, John and Rita Carroll; and her brothers, Joe and David Carroll.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Peterson of Golden, CO; her brother, Jim Carroll of New Albin; her sister, Anita (Mark) Goellner of Duluth, MN; and her nieces and nephews.
