Yvonne Sexton, age 96, of rural Ridgeway died Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center in New Hampton. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, August 29 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Bluffton, with Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Interment was in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery, Bluffton.
Yvonne Marie (McMorrow) Sexton was born April 25, 1919, the daughter of William and Bridget (Rea) McMorrow, in rural Waukon. She attended country schools in rural Allamakee County and graduated from Waukon High School in 1937. Yvonne married Francis Sexton October 27, 1947 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, West Ridge in rural Waukon. To this union seven children were born.
Yvonne was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church in rural Bluffton. She enjoyed baking, gardening, raising chickens, and especially spending time with her family.
Yvonne is survived by her children: John (Mary) Sexton of Cedar Rapids, Susann (Steve) Laures of New Hampton, Patrick (Janet Weikert) Sexton of Independence, Mary Beth (Alan) Bush of Spencer, Joan (Jim) Ketcham of Tumwater, WA and David (Debra) Sexton of Ridgeway; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; two nephews and one niece.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, in 1990; her son, Thomas Sexton, in 1969; her granddaughter, Emily Sexton; her step-great-grandson, Matthew Caldwell; her sisters, Eleanor (Leo) O’Neill and Frances McMorrow; her brothers, John McMorrow and James (Jean) McMorrow; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Eileen (Edward) Wilkins, Rosemyra (O.W.) Fletcher and William J. Sexton.
Casketbearers were Alan Bush, Matthew Bush, Micah Ketcham, Steve Laures, Mike Donlan and Shane Courtney. Arrangements were handled by Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, Decorah.
