Waukon volleyball team falls at Oelwein, wins three of four at own home tournament

The Waukon volleyball team experienced both ends of the broom this past week, suffering the down side of sweeping action to begin and end the week but doing their own bit of that for three match wins between those two match losses. The Indians opened the week by falling at Oelwein in three straight sets, 17-25, 11-25 and 16-25, Tuesday, September 15 before winning all three of its pool play matches but falling in the opening round of championship bracket play at the Tribe’s own Waukon Invitational Tournament Saturday, September 19.
Holding a 5-10 season record, 0-2 in Northeast Iowa Conference play, the Indians were next scheduled to host Class 4A 11th-rated Waverly-Shell Rock Tuesday, September 22 before hosting MFL/MarMac Monday, September 28 in a match rescheduled from September 8 and then traveling to New Hampton Tuesday, September 29.
