Allamakee Community Players to present comedy "Backstage" October 23-25

The Allamakee Community Players will be presenting the Pat Cook comedy "Backstage" on the stage in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Waukon.  Performances are Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available from any cast member or by calling Karla Lubahn at 563-568-4640 or Kris Larson at 563-864-7766.
Everyone who takes to the stage knows that the real drama in a theatre takes place backstage and can create quite a comedy to watch all by itself. This has never been more true than at Theatre Baroque, where the star, one-time matinee idol Burton Cavendish, suddenly dies an hour before the premiere of “Don Juan in Cleveland.”
Once it is discovered that Cavendish has passed away, Lou, the director, calls on Ajax, the understudy, to fill in. But Ajax must play Cavendish both on and off stage, and he can’t tell anyone - not even his own mother. It is to be the great star’s last performance...  and Ajax’s greatest performance ever.
The cast of this fall's performance includes Cathy Buhl as Max; Kathryn Riehle as Claire; Gwen Schroedel as Mercedes; Chasity Bushaw as Polly; Barry Mueller as Efrem; Barb Hagen as Yolanda; Jonathan Buhl as Ajax; Cheri Turner as Lou; Mike Sanderson as Skippy; Donna Horsfield as Ginger; Karla Lubahn as Agnes; Jada Bushaw as Goose; Mike Larson as Mr. Oberclaw; James Riehle as Mrs. Oberclaw; Vickie Larson as Hattie; Linda Kerndt as Tayler; George Troendle as Pete; and Kaira Bushaw as Kaira.
