Waukon football team creates District 3 lead logjam with 46-13 pounding of New Hampton

Putting together its most complete game of the season, the Waukon football team played a bit of King of the Mountain with Class 2A District 3’s lone undefeated team in district play when the Indians traveled to New Hampton Friday, October 9 and dealt the host Chickasaws a 46-13 dismantling. The Indians nearly doubled up New Hampton in total offensive yards, racking up 473 yards of total offense while limiting the Chickasaws to just 241 total yards, the Tribe’s 261 yards through the air surpassing New Hampton’s total yardage all by itself and resulting in five of the Indians’ six touchdowns in the game. The victory improves the Indians to a 6-1 overall record that bettered to a 3-1 mark in Class 2A District 3 play to force that four-way tie atop the District 3 standings. The football Tribe will wrap up its regular season home schedule this Friday, October 16 by hosting Center Point-Urbana (CPU). The Stormin’ Pointers hold a 4-3 season record, 2-2 in Class 2A District 3 after posting a 20-19 home win over Oelwein this past Friday, October 9.
