Norman John Schauls, 78, of Waterloo died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at North Crest Specialty Care, Waterloo. Services were held Monday, October 5 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo, with Archbishop Michael Jackels officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo.
He was born March 9, 1937 in New Albin, the son of Nick and Della Frelinger Schauls. Norman graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Lansing in 1955. He married Delores Marie Magner September 28, 1957 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at West Ridge near Waukon.
Norman farmed near Lansing for a few years. He retired from John Deere in 1995 after 31 years as a Tool and Die maker. He served as a Deacon at the Community of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for the Archdiocese of Dubuque. Norman enjoyed genealogy and working on computers.
Survivors include his wife, Delores; two sons, Mark (Berdell) Schauls and Mike Schauls, both of Waterloo; three daughters, Maureen (Greg) Bazan and Madonna (Joe) Morrison of Waterloo and Marjean (Bob) Taylor of Flagstaff, AZ; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janet Fredrickson of Moline, IL.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ann; his parents; and two brothers, Ronald, and Joseph in infancy.
