Kee volleyball team falls short of Upper Iowa Conference title

The Kee volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a couple opportunities to reign supreme over the Upper Iowa Conference  (UIC) this past week, both in dual match and tournament play. Unfortunately for the Hawks, standing in the way of that feat was defending UIC champion Starmont, who denied the Hawk netters both chances by handing Kee two of its four match losses from this past week.
The Hawks had a chance to force a share of the Upper Iowa Conference regular season title when they traveled to Starmont Tuesday, October 13 to face the yet UIC-undefeated Stars, but, instead, fell to the host squad in three sets, 16-25, 8-25 and 18-25, to end up third in the final UIC standings behind the no-loss Stars and one-loss Turkey Valley. Kee then had a chance to climb atop the UIC pile at the annual Upper Iowa Conference Tournament Saturday, October 17 at Postville, but, instead, won just one of four matches to have its day ended in the quarterfinal round of championship bracket play by those same Starmont Stars.
The Hawks wrapped up their regular season with a 13-14 overall record, including a 7-2 mark in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play that placed Kee third in the final 11-team league standings. The Lady Hawks were scheduled to open Class 1A Regional Tournament play Tuesday, October 20 at Turkey Valley.
