Waukon cross country boys place third at NEIC Meet

The Waukon boys cross team claimed a pair of individual All-Conference finishes on the way to a third-place team finish at the Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) Meet at New Hampton Tuesday, October 13. In a very tight battle behind the dominant championship effort of Decorah placing all seven of its varsity runners within the All-Conference top 15, the Indians scored 87 team points to finish just two points behind runner-up Charles City and a mere single point ahead of fourth-place Waverly-Shell Rock, with all seven teams NEIC teams being able to field full teams and team scores.
The Indians will next compete in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet Thursday, October 22 at Monticello, with further details of that postseason venture printed elsewhere on these Sports pages in a shaded box.
