Edna Meyer

Edna Alwine Emma Meyer, 95, of Eitzen, MN passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Gundersen Tweeten Care Center, Spring Grove, MN. Funeral services were held Friday, October 23 at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Eitzen, MN, with Pastor Michael McCann officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Edna was born July 8, 1920 in Caledonia, MN to Herman and Augusta (Ehlers) Meyer. Edna was baptized August 8, 1920 in Eitzen, MN and confirmed in 1934 at St. John’s United Church of Christ (Wheatland), rural New Albin. She attended Houston County country school from 1925 until 1933.
December 4, 1940, Edna married Clarence C. Meyer. Together they farmed in the Dorchester area until 1972, when they moved to Eitzen, MN. October 3, 1987, Clarence preceded Edna in death. Edna worked at Rush Products in Rushford, MN, Control Data in Spring Grove, MN and Lansing Co. in Lansing until she retired in 1986.
Edna’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she loved spending time with them. For many years, she enjoyed weaving rugs. Edna also enjoyed time at Senior Citizens, playing cards and bingo, putting together jig-saw-puzzles, and playing Scrabble.
Survivors include two sons, Lyle (Ruth) Meyer of Dousman, WI and Gerald (Anita) Meyer of Dorchester; five daughters: Beverly (Paul) Bodine of Onalaska, WI, Barbara (Steve) Morken of Spring Grove, MN, Sandra (George) Buchanan of North Pole, AK, Diane (Robert) Beneke of New Albin and Sherry (Mark) Plein of Independence; 16 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester Meyer of New Albin; two sisters-in-law, Lois Meyer of LeClaire and Margaret (Robert) Martin of Centralia, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Edna was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Olga Thimmesch; one brother, Norman Meyer; one sister-in-law, Donna Meyer; and two brothers-in-law, Art Meiners and Greg Thimmesch.
