Waukon football advances with 32-13 win over Union, will play at Aplington-Parkersburg Monday

The Waukon football team took advantage of four turnovers by Union to post a 32-13 first-round victory in the Class 2A State Play-Offs Wednesday, October 28. The Indians will now advance on to a second round game Monday, November 2 at Aplington-Parkersburg, a team that finished second in Class 2A District 6 with a 7-2 overall record, 5-1 in district play, and opened its State Play-Off journey with a 7-0 victory at home over Clear Lake in overtime Wednesday, October 28. The Falcons posted a 45-16 win over Union in District 6 play midway through this season, and also share another common opponent with the Indians from this season, defeating Waterloo Columbus, 50-35, in a Week 2 non-district battle. Game time is 7 p.m. Monday, November 2 at the home of "The Sacred Acre," Ed Thomas Field in Parkersburg, named in honor of late legendary coach Ed Thomas.
