Waukon wrestling team wins four of five duals, places fourth at Wapsie Valley

The Waukon wrestling team opened its 2015-2016 season with a busy week of what amounted to five dual meets in a three-night span followed by a weekend tournament. The mat Tribe posted dual victories of 43-42 over Nashua-Plainfield and 54-24 over Postville, but fell to Oelwein, 48-24, at a quadrangular kick-off to the season Tuesday, December 1, and then swept Clayton Ridge and Riceville in the Indians’ first home action of the season Thursday, December 3, 72-12 over Riceville and 54-18 over Clayton Ridge. The Indians wrapped up their busy initial week with a fourth-place finish at the Chris Davis Tournament hosted by Wapsie Valley High School Saturday, December 5.
The Indians will host both Caledonia, MN and Waverly-Shell Rock Thursday, December 10 before competing at the South Winneshiek Tournament Saturday, December 12. The mat Tribe will then wrap up the 2015 portion of its schedule with another home double dual with Crestwood and New Hampton Thursday, December 17 before competing in the Starmont Tournament Saturday, December 19 and then breaking for the holidays.
