David Beisker

David Lee Beisker, 81, of Monona died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Northgate Care Center, Waukon. Funeral Services were held Friday, December 18 at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona, with the Rev. Dennis Hopes officiating. Burial followed in Council Hill Cemetery, rural Monona.
David was born to George and Alice (Ewing) Beisker August 22, 1934 near Waukon. David was baptized December 19, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Congregation in Waukon. He attended country schools, Jefferson #3 and #5, until the eighth grade and graduated high school from Waukon in 1954.
David was united in marriage with Delores Kay Monroe December 27, 1956. Four children were born to this union, Kendal, Lonnie, Rochelle and Sherry. David farmed all his life and milked cows for over 50 years, until he switched to beef cattle. He hauled rip-rap at the Lansing Bridge on the ice during the winters of 1954 and 1955.  He also hauled gravel and lime on the side, did logging, odd jobs and worked at Hi-Grade in Postville.
David was very mechanically inclined and could fix his own tractors and machinery as well as almost anything that broke down. He loved nature and trees, he planted many on the farm and was known to leave certain areas of the hay field unmowed if he had seen a pheasant or turkey nest or a baby deer in that area.
David was interested in Indian lore and hunted arrowheads as he cultivated corn or while tending cattle in the creeks or pasture. He especially loved his Minneapolis Moline tractors and collected many toy tractors and other memorabilia. David enjoyed raising large gardens with Lorrie, canning and freezing the harvest and sharing the extras with family and friends.
David is survived by his wife, Delores Beisker of Monona; his children, Kendal (Barb Blockhus) Beisker of Farmersburg, Lonnie (Sandie) Beisker of McGregor, Rochelle (DuWayne) Fabert of Luana and Sherry (Steven) Kunert of Humboldt; eight grandchildren, Curtis (Megan) Beisker, Shauna (Ted Berg) Beisker, Crystal (Scott) Goltz, Chelsey (Shayne) Clark, Brandon (Amy Peterson) Fabert, Cassandra (Bryan) Ott, Sarah (Nathan George) Wright and Joseph Kunert; four great-grandchildren, Ava and Claire Goltz, Shelby Clark and Freyja Ott; one brother, Larry (Ruth) Beisker of Cedar Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Beisker and Laurayne Beisker; and one brother-in-law, George Kelbl.
