Delpha Darlene McCormick

Delpha D. McCormick, 89, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa. Delpha Darlene, the daughter of John and Clarice (Kohl) Knapp, was born November 1, 1926 in McGregor, Iowa.
Delpha was united in marriage with Dale McCormick on October 2, 1950 at St. Pius Catholic Church (Cherry Mound), rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa. To this union two daughters, Barb and Joann, were born. Delpha and Dale lived on the McCormick family farm on Sunshine Hill north of Marquette, Iowa from 1950 until 1986. They continued to live on the acreage at Sunshine Hill until Delpha entered the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. Delpha took great pride in caring for her family and home. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.
Delpha is survived by her two daughters, Barb (Mark) Arneson of Decorah, Iowa; and Joann Heeren of Decorah, Iowa; two grandchildren, Jarrod (Christina Miller) Heeren and Tiffany (Mitchel) Zweibohmer; two step grandchildren, Andrea Arneson and Jason (Amy) Arneson; two great-grandchildren, Seth and Ashley Zweibohmer; and her sister, Beverly Platten of Harpers Ferry, Iowa.
Delpha was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents, John and Clarice Knapp; one sister, Doreen Wahl; and one brother, Dean Knapp.
A special thank you to the Good Samaritan Society of Postville, for all the care, comfort and support they gave, not only for Mom but for the family as well.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday morning, December 28, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor, Iowa. Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez and Rev. Dan Knipper were concelebrants.
Visitation was Sunday afternoon, December 27, 2015 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home in McGregor, Iowa, including a Scripture Service. Friends also called one hour before services at the church Monday.
Interment was Monday afternoon, December 28, 2015 at St. Pius Catholic Church Cemetery (Cherry Mound), rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements.
