Jill Lowery

Jill Lowery, age 48, of Lansing, formerly of Waterloo, died suddenly Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. A Memorial Service will be held at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories in Waterloo Friday, January 15 from 4-8 p.m., with a balloon release scheduled for 6 p.m.
    Jill Anne Lowery was born September 20, 1967 in Waterloo, the daughter of John and Marlene (Potter) Payne. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1986. Jill’s senior year she was Homecoming Queen. She attended Kirkwood College, until her beautiful daughter, Marlee, was born.
Jill met her lifelong partner, Jack Edgar. She then went to NIACC to earn her associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. While at NIACC, she was on the Dean’s list. Most recently, Jill had been living in Waukon. She was a waitress/bartender in food service.
Jill loved people and loved meeting new people. She enjoyed the beach, fishing and shopping. Jill adored her grandson, James; he was the love of her life and her whole world. She also had a special place in her heart for her fur babies, Petey and Piper.
Jill was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Rufus and Gertrude Payne; her maternal grandparents, Waymond and Berniece Potter; and an uncle, Mark Potter. She is survived by her life partner, Jack Edgar of Waukon; her parents, John and Marlene Payne of Castleberry, AL; three daughters: Marlee O’Brien of Aiken, SC, Nicole Lowery of Dewitt and Maggie Edgar of Waterloo; a grandson, James Harris; a brother, Jeffery (Michelle) Payne of Waterloo; two sisters, Jodi Payne of Waterloo and Jana (Brian) Woodley of Waterloo; and a host of aunts and uncles.
