The VFW Auxiliary of the Kenneth Casey Post 5603 held its regular monthly meeting at the New Albin Community Center December 21. A Christmas potluck was served at 12 p.m. Ninth District President Linda Kitilinger and friend Verna Mae Johannes were also present.
The meeting was called to order by President Virginia Moore at 1 p.m. Nine members were present. The Secretary's and Treasurer's reports were accepted as read. No bills were presented. The Ninth District meeting will be held January 16 at Elkader.
The scholarships for Kee High School were discussed. It was decided to give one to a 2016 Kee High graduate from New Albin, and one from Lansing. It was tabled until the January meeting about donating money towards the quilts that are made for veterans. Members brought articles to be used for the shoebox for gifts to be given to shut-ins. District President Linda Kitilinger gave a report about the local Auxiliary, stating that a good job is being done and encouraging continued support of the Cancer Fund. Gifts were exchanged between the presidents.
Suggestions for the good of the organization was held, after which the meeting was adjourned to reopen January 18 at the New Albin Community Center at 1 p.m.
