Waukon wrestling team swept in six straight dual meets following holiday break

The Waukon wrestling team returned to the mat following the holiday break for what amounted to six dual meets within a span of less than 48 hours this past week. Forfeits loomed large for the Indian matmen, as all six of those duals avoided the win column for the Tribe, as the Indians were swept in a double dual at Charles City Thursday, January 7 by both the host school, 65-5, and Decorah, 45-26, before falling in all four of its dual meets at the New Hampton Dual Tournament Saturday, January 9. The mat Tribe fell to New Hampton, 78-0, Southeast Polk, 39-27, Dover-Eyota, MN, 55-21, and Waterloo East, 51-30, in that weekend competition.
Sporting a 4-11 season record, 0-4 in Northeast Iowa Conference action, the Indians will take to the mat once again against Decorah at the home of the Vikings Thursday, January 14 before returning to Decorah for tournament action Saturday, January 16. The mat Tribe will then wrestle both Oelwein and Waverly-Shell Rock at Oelwein Thursday, January 21 before competing in the Riceville Tournament Saturday, January 23.
