Waukon boys basketball team ends regular season on three-game win streak, opens postseason with 64-43 win over Clayton Ridge; Will now face Beckman this Thursday

The Waukon boys basketball team rode a four-game win streak during a busy past week, winning three final regular season games before opening up Class 2A District Tournament play with a fourth consecutive victory. The Indians’ regular season streak included wins of 84-71 at home against South Winneshiek Monday, February 8, 63-59 at Decorah Tuesday, February 9 and 59-54 at New Hampton Friday, February 12.
The Indians then opened their Class 2A tournament road with a 64-43 triumph at home over Clayton Ridge Monday, February 15, earning advancement to the District semifinals this Thursday, February 18 at Dyersville Beckman, beginning at 8 p.m. That game will be part of a doubleheader hosted by Beckman that night, with MFL/MarMac taking on North Fayette Valley that same night at 6:30 p.m. and the two winning teams from that night then advancing on to the District finals to be played Tuesday, February 23 at Manchester, beginning at 7 p.m. for the right to advance to the Substate finals Saturday, February 27 in Dubuque.
The Indians’ current streak improves their overall season record to 11-9, including a Northeast Iowa Conference record of 7-5 that placed the Tribe third in the final Northeast Iowa Conference standings.
