Edna Wiethorn

Edna Mae Wiethorn, 83, of Monona died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Garden View Senior Community in Monona. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, March 22 at Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Monona, with Rev. Dennis Hopes as the Officiant. Burial followed at Monona Cemetery in Monona.
Edna Mae was born January 19, 1933 to Milburn and Grace (Jacobia) Moose in Postville. She was baptized Presbyterian, at an early age. She joined the Methodist Church in Monona in 1950. Ednah attended Fairview No. 5 country school on Irish Ridge in Allamakee County. In 1946, she graduated from the eighth grade in Waukon and from Monona High School in 1950.
Ednah was united in marriage with Gilbert H. Wiethorn, Jr. August 3, 1950 in the Methodist Church, Monona. One daughter, Sheryl (Wiethorn) Moses, was born to this union. Ednah was a homemaker and a farm wife who helped her husband on the farm. She liked to go mushroom hunting, fishing with her husband, and going shopping. She loved traveling with her husband and they ventured to Hayward, Lake Superior, the Black Hills, Branson, and any other place that struck their fancy. She enjoyed socializing and going out to eat with her friends, especially to Maggie’s Diner. Ednah loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they brought her much love, joy and laughter.
Ednah is survived by her daughter, Sheryl (Robert) Moses of Monona; three grandchildren, James (Sherrod) Moses of Eureka, IL, Lori (Jared) Cagley of Cedar Rapids and Lisa (John) Hagensick of Prairie du Chien, WI; two great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Ian Cagley; a sister, Verta (Keith) Kerr of Postville; and a host of other family members and friends. Ednah was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, Jr. and her parents.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona assisted the family with arrangements.
