Waukon girls golf team ends season with NEIC and Regional Tournaments

The Waukon girls golf team wrapped up its 2016 season with two final tournaments this past week, finishing near the middle of the pack in both of those 18-hole events. The Indian lady linksters placed fifth in the seven-team field of the Northeast Iowa Conference Tournament Tuesday, May 10 hosted by Waverly-Shell Rock after that event was postponed from Monday, May 9, with senior Leslie Sivesind earning All-Conference honors for the Indians. The Tribe then closed out its season with a fourth-place team finish at its Class 3A Regional Tournament at Oelwein Monday, May 16, just a couple places shy of earning further team advancement. Sivesind once again led the Indian charge, falling just one stroke shy of earning regional advancement in the tournament’s individual competition.
