Kee baseball remains undefeated in UIC with 5-1 week

Kee baseball senior center fielder Ethan Walleser hits the ground to haul in a fly ball for an out in the Hawks’ home doubleheader sweep of Starmont in Upper Iowa Conference play Monday, June 6. In addition to his defensive impact in the outfield during the twinbill sweep, Walleser also made his presence well known on pitcher’s mound in game two of the double-dip, allowing just one hit and striking out nine batters in the 4-0 Hawk triumph. For the second consecutive week, the Kee baseball team came up just a single game shy of being undefeated for the week, as the Hawks pieced together another 5-1 result during a six-game slate. Four of those victories helped keep the Hawks undefeated in Upper Iowa Conference play through, now, eight consecutive games, including home sweeps of Starmont by scores of 5-3 and 4-0 Monday, June 6 and of South Winneshiek by results of 4-3 and 4-1 Thursday, June 9. The Hawks finished the week with a split of a spontaneously-scheduled doubleheader at St. Ansgar Saturday, June 11, falling by a score of 10-5 before posting a 10-1 victory, after relocating two games originally scheduled for a rain-soaked Charles City field.

Improving to a 12-6 overall record and still undefeated, 8-0, in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play, the Hawks were slated to host MFL/MarMac for a Monday, June 13 doubleheader before playing at Clayton Ridge Wednesday, June 15 and then hosting Central City Saturday, June 18. Kee will then hit the road to play at Postville Monday, June 20, at Turkey Valley Thursday, June 23, at Coon Rapids-Bayard Friday, June 24 and in a tournament at Glidden-Ralston Saturday, June 25.
