The Kee softball team remained perfect in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play with another pair of doubleheader sweeps this past week, but sandwiched those victories around a loss to another top 15-ranked squad from a larger class. The Hawks recorded UIC sweeps at home, 10-0 and 13-2 - both in six innings - over Starmont Monday, June 6 and 10-0 and 11-0 - both in five innings - over West Central Thursday, June 9. In between those two rolling efforts, the Hawks suffered just their third loss of the season, a 4-2 home defeat to Class 3A 12th-rated Crestwood Tuesday, June 7.

“It was a hard pill to swallow to lose to Cresco, but the girls are improving each day and making adjustments to become the best ball club for postseason play,” Kee softball head coach Liz Hill said. “The girls will continue to keep working hard to get where we need to be, and they always have fun doing so. The girls are hitting very well right now; I am proud of each and every one of them.”

Still undefeated in eight Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) games, and holding a 12-3 overall record, the Lady Hawks were next scheduled to remain at home for a majority of this week, including UIC doubleheaders against North Fayette Valley Monday, June 13 and Edgewood-Colesburg Wednesday, June 15, before playing in the two-day West Delaware Tournament Friday and Saturday, June 17-18. The Kee girls will then travel to Central Elkader for another UIC doubleheader Monday, June 20 before playing in the Decorah Tournament Saturday, June 25.
