"Thunder in the Park" ...

Despite a heat index flirting with 100 degrees Saturday and a morning thunderstorm Sunday, the annual "Thunder in the Park" event was considered to be another successful venture this year with more re-enactors taking part in the event than in year's past, according to local organizer Al Lyon. The fourth annual event held Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, June 10-12 at the Waukon City Park offered a variety of insights into the history of this nation once divided by war but brought together, in part, by the efforts of the man pictured at left, the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln (who was portrayed throughout the weekend by Lance Mack and is pictured with his "wife" portrayed by Jessica Michna). In between all the weather challenges, this year's event was able pull off the night firing of cannons, as pictured in the photo at right. Standard photos by Joe Moses.
