P.S.S.T. parent volunteer group looking for new members or volunteers to help support students and teachers in ACSD

Parents Supporting Students and Teachers (P.S.S.T.) is a group of parents within the Allamakee Community School District that meets, plans, volunteers and - just as the name suggests - provides support for students and teachers within the district. The P.S.S.T. group is actually a new name for the original WE Care parental group.

Group members believe that parent involvement is one of the most important factors in raising student self-esteem and academic achievement. The group also realizes that all families are unique with their own needs, talents and time constraints, so an effort is made to provide as many different opportunities for parental involvement as possible.

With those opportunities in mind, P.S.S.T. is recruiting volunteers to join the group or even to just volunteer their efforts in support of the local school district's students and teachers. Those volunteer opportunities include the following:

• help organize events or fundraisers
• make treats for bake sales or events
• spend 30-60 minutes at booths for events, such as Teacher Appreciation Week or parent/teacher conferences
• donate supplies or prizes
• any amount of time or effort is appreciated, no matter what it may entail.

Anyone interested in joining the group or simply volunteering their time and effort is encouraged to fill out the form below and bring it with them to the school registration sessions planned for August 10-11 within the Allamakee Community School District. Forms will also be available to fill out at each school registration location.
