Jean Stahl

Jean Ann Stahl, 83, of Lansing died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Thornton Manor, Lansing. Funeral Services were held Thursday, August 11 at United Methodist Church, Lansing, with Pastor Kevin Smith as the Officiant. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.

Jean was born December 20, 1932 to Franklin and Violet (Thorpe) Middendorf in Lansing. She graduated from Lansing High School in 1950.

Jean was united in marriage with Everett Stahl February 18, 1955 at the Presbyterian Church in Lansing. Five children were born to this union, Pam, Tim, Mark, Doug and Tom. Jean stayed home to raise her children. She then did office work for Thompson and O’Malley Insurance and Kerndt Insurance. She retired to stay home and help watch her grandchildren.

Jean was very active in the Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Church Choir and was a Sunday School Pianist. She enjoyed playing bingo, crossword puzzles, reading, going out to eat, traveling with her husband and sports, especially the Twins, the Vikings and ISU. Throughout the years, Jean belonged to bowling leagues and card clubs. She most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren, they were the light of her life.

Jean is survived by her husband, Everett, of sixty-one years; her children, Pam (Ed) Strong of New Albin, Tim (Betsy) Stahl of Lansing, Mark Stahl of Lansing, Doug (Kris) Stahl of St. Louis Park, MN and Tom Stahl of Dakota, MN; four grandchildren, Emily, Sydney, Alyssa and Zach; her sisters, Donna Bartheld of La Crosse, WI and Sandy (Rich) Drake of St. Joseph, MO; and a brother, Jim (Carolyn) Middendorf of Monona. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bob and Jerry Middendorf.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing assisted the family with arrangements.
