Edward Knuppe

Edward “Eddie” C. Knuppe, 72, of Waukon died Friday, September 9, 2016 at his home in rural Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, September 12 at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waukon with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Edward Charles Knuppe was born February 1, 1944 in Manitowoc, WI, the son of Emil and Catherine (Johnson) Knuppe. He was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon and attended Waukon High School. January 9, 1965, he married Elaine Hanson at St. John's Lutheran Church. They farmed together in Paint Creek Township, rural Waukon milking dairy cows and raising beef cows. Eddie also did custom chopping, and he worked for the Waukon Feed Ranch and Tim’s Trimming. In 1972 he received the Outstanding Young Farmer award from the Waukon Jaycees.

Eddie was a member of Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church, Farm Bureau and Upper Iowa Saddle Club. He enjoyed woodworking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, playing cards and spending time in the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Knuppe of Waukon; four daughters: Deb (Terry) Johnson of Waukon, Sheila (Bruce) Snitker of Waukon, Vicky (Tim) Phipps of Postville and Carrie (Shane) Sievers of Mason City; six grandchildren: Mike McDowell, Matt (Ciara Mahr) Snitker, Vanessa Phipps, and Cassie, Kennedy and Catherine Sievers; a sister, Shirley Steiber of Lansing; a step-sister, Kathy (John) Derga of Worthington; two brothers-in-law, Richard (Vera) Hanson of New York and Jim Hanson of Waukon; and his beloved dogs, Dora and Daisy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-sister, Rae Marie Hanson Nunn; and a brother-in-law, Dale Steiber.

Honorary casketbearers were his granddaughters. Casketbearers were Terry Johnson, Bruce and Matt Snitker, Tim Phipps, Shane Sievers and Mike McDowell. Online condolences may be left at www.martinfunerals.com.
