Waukon wrestling team wins one of three duals at Fillmore Central quadrangular

The Waukon wrestling team had just one competition date this past week prior to the holiday break, but that date involved three different dual meets Tuesday, December 20 at Fillmore Central in Minnesota. The Indians won just one of the three duals, defeating the host school by a 42-27 final result, but also fell to another Minnesota school, Dover-Eyota, by a 37-25 result and the other Iowa team competing, Sumner-Fredericksburg, by a 42-34 count.

The senior tandem of Chance Cota at 126 pounds and Blain Swenson at 170 pounds were the only Indians to finish the night undefeated against all three teams. That duo won in each of three different manners, by forfeit, by fall and by decision. The Indians were without the services of 160-pound junior Tristan Hansmeier, who suffered an ankle injury during the previous weekend and will be sidelined for several weeks.

Fillmore Central was only able to put six wrestlers on the mat in each of its three duals, being swept by Sumner-Fredericksburg, 51-27, and Dover-Eyota, 56-12, as well. Dover-Eyota also defeated Sumner-Fredericksburg, 41-32, to sweep all three of its duals on the night.
