Norma McFadden

Norma Kathleen McFadden, 86, of La Crosse, WI died Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, January 3 at Living Word Christian Church, La Crosse, WI. There was also a service with burial at Waterville Lutheran Church in Waterville Tuesday, January 3. Both services were presided over by Rev. Mark Clements, Pastor.

Norma was born to Otto and Elizabeth (Asleson) Nelson of Waterville March 14, 1930. She grew up on a farm in Waterville, after growing up she worked as a Nurse's Aid at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital for several years.

Norma then married and moved to upstate New York until moving back home to La Crosse, WI in 1987 to be closer to her sisters and brothers.   During her time in New York, Norma enjoyed a more than 40-year friendship with Ruth Green, they both bonded over the Lord and supported each other through tough times.

Norma enjoyed her life and lived for the Lord, her church was very important to her as was being an example to others on living a Christian life. Norma enjoyed traveling, and this included frequent trips to Mall of America as well as visiting Norway, the birthplace of her grandparents.  Norma stayed active up until the last few months, walking several miles a day, rain or shine; she never stopped moving.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie McFadden Spence of North Carolina; a son, David McFadden of Mississippi; three grandchildren; two sisters: Alvina Sickels of Rossville, Olive Marohn of La Crosse, WI; two brothers: Kenneth Nelson of Clinton and Howard Nelson of Camanche; and by many nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Arthur; a sister, Marjorie Nelson; and two brothers-in-law, Merlin Marohn and Art Sickels.

Norma will be missed by so many people she touched, and remembered always as a loving and wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
