Register for Waukon Park and Recreation Biddy Basketball Program before fee increases Jan. 5

The Waukon Park and Recreation Biddy Basketball Program is for boys and girls in Kindergarten through third grade. Basic fundamentals of basketball will be taught along with team participation. Teams are grouped according to age/grade and game rules are modified to accommodate lower ages and skill levels.

Small baskets, balls and fun learning techniques are used with special emphasis on sportsmanship. If the child is old enough to be in kindergarten, then they may participate in the program.

The games will be played Saturday mornings starting February 4 and will run for five weeks. Participants will show up at the designated time and will be shown different basketball drills that they will perform with their teammates for about 30 minutes and then they will play a game for about 30 minutes. No practice will take place at any other time of the week.

Youth will play on a smaller court. Two volunteer coaches are needed for each team. The new high school gym will be used each week.

After January 5, the registration fee increases and online registration closes, so interested participants are encouraged to register early. Registration forms can be picked up at the Waukon Wellness Center or printed off from the Waukon Park and Recreation website or Facebook page. Copies were also handed out at school.

The final registration deadline is January 12. For additional information, contact Park and Recreation Director Kim Kraus at wkn_park_rec@neitel.net or 563-568-6420.
