Richard Delphey

Richard Arthur Delphey, 72, of Lansing died Wednesday evening, January 4, 2017 surrounded by his family at Silverado Memory Care Community in Naperville, IL. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s - St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, with Fr. John Moser officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.

Richard will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Paint Rock Cemetery, Harpers Ferry. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

Richard graduated from St. George High School in 1962, went to work for Caterpillar in Aurora, IL, and lived in Plano, IL for 35 years until he retired in 1999. He was raised to love the outdoors and was an avid duck hunter. He also enjoyed his time spent at the Delphey Brothers’ Marina in Harpers Ferry. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching their various activities.

Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Kay (nee Burke); two sons: Brian (Melissa) Delphey and Brad (Gloria) Delphey; four grandchildren: Brock, Andrew, Avery and Casey; two brothers: Norman (Dorothy) of Harpers Ferry and Fred (Jeanene) of Waukon; two sisters: Diane (Duane) Engel of Tipp City, OH and Pamela (Thomas Gayther) Delphey of Waukon. Richard was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Patricia; and his sister, Mary Ann Etscheidt.
