Kee girls basketball team easily handles Central for 55-31 UIC road win

In what turned out to be its only competition of the week due to icy conditions that postponed a Tuesday, January 17 game at North Fayette Valley, the Kee girls basketball team coupled a double-digit scoring effort in each of its four quarters at Central Elkader Friday, January 20 with a single-digit defensive effort in three of those four quarters to come away with a 55-31 Upper Iowa Conference victory. The Lady Hawks nearly doubled-up the host Warriors in each of the game’s three first quarters to build as much as a nearly 30-point lead before having the fourth quarter play out nearly even.

Now holding a 9-3 overall season record, including a 7-2 effort in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play, the Class 1A fifth-rated Kee basketball girls were scheduled to host Starmont Tuesday, January 24 before playing at Clayton Ridge Thursday, January 26 and then hosting Postville Friday, January 27, but since Postville could not field a varsity girls team this year, the Lady Hawks will instead play a varsity game against Spring Grove, MN to finish up that night’s full slate. The Kee hoopsters will then play at West Central Tuesday, January 31 before hosting one final regular season game with second-rated Turkey Valley Friday, February 3 and then wrapping up their regular season with back-to-back games, Monday, February 6 at Oelwein and Tuesday, February 7 at North Fayette Valley in a make-up game from January 17.
