David Thorstenson

David Thorstenson, 65, of Cedar Rapids passed away Friday, January 20, 2017. A gathering of family and friends was held Tuesday, January 24 at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, located in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Linda; his children, Andrea (Derek) Waite and Damian (Amanda) Thorstenson; his grandchildren, Ryken and Larkyn Waite and Danielle Thorstenson and Colton Engel; his brothers, Wayne and Dean Thorstenson; his sisters, Eunice Kolsrud and Karla Honn; and many family members.

David Gene Thorstenson was born August 14, 1951 in Waukon to Eilert and Charlotte (Jacobson) Thorstenson. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1969 and then attended trade school in Minneapolis, MN. He married Linda Irwin April 8, 1976 in Rock Island, IL. David was a forklift operator for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for 42 years until his retirement in 2014.
He belonged to the Quaker Golf League and the RWDSU Local 110. David was an avid golfer and could always be found on a golf course. He was never without a really good tan. He enjoyed reading Stephen King novels, figuring out crossword puzzles, and playing cards, especially Euchre.

David was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister, Ida Ann.
