Dorothy Broszeit

Dorothy M. Broszeit, 85, of Frankville died Monday, January 30, 2017 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 2 at Frankville Presbyterian Church in Frankville. Burial was at Frankville Cemetery.

Dorothy Marie Broszeit was born March 22, 1931 in Luana, the daughter of Ralph and Eula (Roffman) Nagel. She was raised in the Rossville area and attended the Little Red Schoolhouse and the old school house on old Highway 51; she also attended Rossville Grade School and Waukon High School.

August 14, 1948, she married Fredrick W. Broszeit at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Waukon. The couple farmed near Frankville and in the late 1960s moved into Frankville, where they have resided ever since. Besides being a farmwife and mother, Dorothy also worked for Livingood’s Supper Club in Frankville.

Dorothy was a member of Frankville Presbyterian Church and belonged to the United Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables and all kinds of flowers. She liked doing puzzles, playing cards and genealogy. Dorothy loved taking pictures and everywhere she went you could always hear her camera clicking away.

She is survived by her husband, Fred, of Frankville; three children: Elaine Broszeit and Loren Broszeit, both of Frankville, and Joann (James) Duvel of Postville; two grandchildren: Darcy (Kim) Broszeit of Wellman and James Broszeit of Frankville; five great-grandchildren: Carter and Ayden Broszeit, Reaghan Aggson, Raylin Miller and Kohltin Broszeit; her mother, Eula Thies of Waukon; and her brother, Leo Nagel of Decorah. Dorothy is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Nagel; her sister-in-law, Donna Nagel; and her father- and mother-in-law, Fredrick Sr. and Agnes Broszeit.

Honorary casketbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casketbearers were Randy Nagel, Brian Dinger, Mike, Dale and Jonathan Martin, and Milo Thornton.
