Brennan reaches 1,000 career points milestone as Kee basketball boys drop pair

Kee boys basketball senior Danny Brennan proudly displays the poster that indicates the scoring milestone of 1,000 varsity career points he achieved during the Hawks’ final regular season game of this 2016-2017 season played at Coulee Christian High School in West Salem, WI Friday, February 10. Coming into the game, Brennan needed 13 points to reach that scoring height, and his final tally before the halftime break pushed him into that elite Kee boys basketball company that includes just four other players, Ric Zarwell, Pat Heiderscheit, Gabe Schultz and Quinn Schultz. Brennan accomplished that feat in 61 games over the past three seasons, averaging 16.6 points per game during that timeframe. He is pictured above with Kee boys basketball head coach Patrick Sullivan (right) and assistant coach Ben Wagner (left), and the poster was made by his younger sister, sophomore Katie Brennan. The Kee boys basketball team brought its regular season to a close this past week, falling in a pair of final non-conference road games but still being able to celebrate something notable. The Hawks suffered a 60-41 loss at Houston, MN Thursday, February 9 and also fell at Coulee Christian by a 68-60 final result Friday, February 10, but it was in that final loss that Kee senior guard Danny Brennan reached the 1,000 career point milestone to etch himself even more firmly among Kee’s basketball elite. The final shot Brennan put through the nylon before the halftime break of Friday’s game placed him in that Kee boys basketball 1,000 point club, a group that includes just four other Hawk hoopsters, Ric Zarwell, Pat Heiderscheit, Gabe Schultz and Quinn Schultz.

Finishing the regular season with a 4-16 overall record, 4-11 in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play, the Hawks are scheduled to begin postseason tournament play Thursday, February 16 against Turkey Valley in a game to be played at Postville High School, with details of that postseason printed elsewhere on this same page in a shaded box in the print edition and e-edition.
