Margaret "Marge" Ewing

Margaret “Marge” Ann Ewing, 84, of Waukon died Friday, March 10, 2017 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at Forest Mills United Methodist Church in rural Postville with Pastor Kim Gates officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.

Margaret "Marge" Ann Ewing was born January 16, 1933 in Frankville, the daughter of Hans and Ruth Ann (Meikle) Stegen. She was baptized and confirmed at Frankville Presbyterian Church and graduated from Postville High School in 1950. In her younger years she was always at the roller rink on the weekends and took part in roller skating competitions.

January 18, 1953, she married Kenneth Milton Ewing in Dubuque. Marge enjoyed fishing and spending time at the river with her family. She worked at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon as a dietitian. Marge lived in Waukon for 56 years and has been a resident at Thornton Manor in Lansing since 2014.

Marge was a member of Forest Mills United Methodist Church in rural Postville, where she was involved with the ladies circle and played the piano and organ for 52 years. She also played the music for many funerals and weddings over the years. Marge was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Vicki (Joe) Price of Decorah, Connie (Craig) Rocksvold of Waukon and Amy (Craig) Wiemerslage of New Albin; six grandchildren: Keni-Joe Ewing, Emily Rocksvold, Luke Rocksvold, Allie Klein, Amanda Fahey and Skylar Fahey; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Mike (Jan) Stegen of Cedar Rapids.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth, who died in 2013; a brother, Lee Stegen; four sisters: Maxine Volks, Ardel Sullivan, Pat Romeo and Lila Dishon.
