Louis "Tim" Frank

Louis “Tim” S. Frank, 85, of Waukon died Friday, March 31, 2017 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family.

Louis “Tim” Sheridan Frank was born February 28, 1932 in Nebraska, where we was raised. He graduated from high school at the age of 15 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1948-1951 in Korea as a frontline cook. After being honorably discharged, Tim resided in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan for seven years where he taught at a baking school.

Tim lived in a variety of places and held a variety of jobs throughout his life, and in the 1950s he hitchhiked Route 66. He also lived in California, Texas (where he worked at Cadillac Plastics in Dallas), Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa. In 1973, he moved to Harmony, MN and drove school bus for 20 years, retiring in 1994. He also worked at a bakery and drove truck for them, drove a milk truck, and cooked for the Harmony House. Tim also owned and operated some restaurants near Oronoco, MN. In 2000, Tim moved to Waukon, where he had resided ever since.

Tim loved cooking and baking, and could cook anything and everything. He always made large breakfasts and Sunday meals, and for their Easter breakfast, he would cook everything made to order for the Methodist church in Harmony, MN.

Tim loved trout fishing in Lanesboro, MN; he also volunteered at the Allamakee County Home and liked taking the residents fishing. He enjoyed listening to old country music, reading (especially science fiction and non-fiction), drinking coffee (a trait he passed to his grandchildren), and watching movies with his grandkids. He loved animals and had the ability to coax out wild animals to feed and handle them. Tim loved learning new things and was always tinkering and taking things apart.

He is survived by his daughter, Elaine (Jeff) Goettel of Harpers Ferry; and four grandchildren: Patrick Frank of Pensacola, FL, and Aislinn, Gabriel and Eireann Goettel of Harpers Ferry. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.
