Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 15

Donations sought and volunteers are needed to assist in filling and setting out eggs, as well as with registration

Epic Wear is hosting a free Easter Egg Hunt in Waukon Saturday, April 15, beginning at 10 a.m. with registration. The event is being held at a new venue this year, Green Valley Getaway, to provide for better parking and restroom accommodations for participants and families.

Kids ages 12 and under are invited to participate in this free event and are reminded to bring their own basket to gather eggs. There will be over 10,000 eggs filled with candy, and the Easter Bunny will also be in attendance. During registration, kids will also be entered into a random drawing for one of 50 Easter baskets filled with toys and activities.

Volunteer assistance is still needed to help fill the eggs prior to the event, or with placing eggs or registration the day of the event. Volunteers can fill eggs at Epic Wear in Waukon anytime during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.-12 noon, but are asked to call before they arrive.

Donations are also being accepted from local businesses and organizations to help purchase candy and Easter basket prizes. Donation checks can be written out to "Waukon Family Fun Fests," which is a new account established through Waukon Economic Development Corporation to make donations tax deductible. Those donations can be mailed to: Waukon Family Fun Fests, c/o Epic Wear, 11 West Main Street, Waukon, IA 52172. For those preferring to donate candy, it should be individually wrapped and small enough to fit inside a plastic egg.

Anyone wishing to volunteer or donate, or having additional questions about either, should contact Mandy Halverson at Epic Wear at 563-568-2301.
