Waukon boys golf team just misses NEIC win against Oelwein, finishes seventh at Sectional Tournament

The Waukon boys golf team wrapped up its regular season and also marked an end to its overall season in its two competitions this last week. The golf Tribe first ended its dual meet season with a narrow, 190-189 loss at home to Oelwein Tuesday, May 9 in a make-up date from May 1. The Indians then fell shy of extending their 2017 season beyond the Monday, May 15 Northeast Iowa Conference Tournament by finishing seventh at their Class 2A Sectional Tournament at New Hampton, not placing within the top-two required finish to advance further into postseason tournament play.
The Indians were next scheduled to compete in the Northeast Iowa Conference Tournament Monday, May 15 at New Hampton. That tournament will mark the end to the Tribe’s 2017 season.

vs. Oelwein ...
The Waukon golf boys brought their 2017 dual meet season to a close, falling just shy of securing their first Northeast Iowa Conference victory of the season Tuesday, May 9 at home against Oelwein. The golf Tribe turned in a team round of 190, just one stroke off the visiting Huskies’ pace of 189.

Sectional Tournament ...
The Waukon golf boys marked an end to their 2017 season after playing in their Class 2A Sectional Tournament at New Hampton Friday, May 12. Needing a top-two finish to qualify for further advancement in postseason tournament play, the Indians ended up in seventh place in the eight-team field, totaling 418 strokes to finish ahead of MFL/MarMac in the tournament’s final results.
