Betty Pfeifer

Betty Ann (Kosbau) Pfeifer of Buffalo, MN, 88, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Lakeside Oasis in Buffalo, MN. Funeral service was at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN Wednesday, June 7 with Pastor Ted Vanderpan officiating.

Betty was born October 18, 1928 on the family homestead in Waukon to George and Agnes (Geving) Kosbau. Betty was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Waukon and later graduated from high school in Waukon. Betty reminisced daily about growing up on the family farm and how she loved her life there.

January 14, 1967, Betty was joined in holy matrimony to Frank Pfeifer at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo by Reverend Cornell. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran by participating in God's Gardners and volunteering for the Harvest of Hands every fall.

Betty began her real estate career in 1965. She became manager at the Eberhardt Company in Buffalo in the early 1970s and later worked with Edina Realty in Buffalo with Frank and her son, Kent. Betty was one of the first woman realtors in Wright County.

Throughout her real estate career, she won many awards, including “Top 10 Sales Associate," “Million Dollar Sales Person" and “The Dozen National Sales Award." Her most memorable award was a ruby ring she was presented for the “Gold Circle Award.” She was Eberhardt Company’s number-one sales associate of the year in 1977. She also managed the many rental properties around Wright County that she and Frank had purchased over the years. Real estate was her true passion.

Her hobbies included card club, antiquing and going to auctions every week. She had antique booths at the Buffalo Nickel, the Vintage Mall and at Annie’s Attic. After Frank's passing in 2002, Betty retired from antiquing and real estate. She purchased a home in Surprise, AZ where she spent her winters. She continued to enjoy playing cards with her many friends and grandchildren. She loved her lunches with her close friends weekly and, of course, her Sunday mornings with family at Perkins. Other activities she enjoyed included watching old westerns and shopping with her grandchildren. Betty will also be remembered for the wonderful stories she would share from her past.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, George and Agnes; and her sister, Norma. She is survived by her children: Greg (Jean) Steffenson, Renell Steffenson (Greg Walker), Kent (Lynn) Pfeifer and Troy (Tammy) Pfeifer; her grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew (Amanda), Christopher (Allyson), Mia, Alex, Austin, Aiden, Lily, Olivia and TJ; a great-grandson, Ted; and her cousins, nieces and nephews.
