Raymond Shelton

Raymond R. Shelton, age 81, of Waukon passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 24 at the United Methodist Church in Lansing involving a visitation from 1-2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon.

Ray was born October 21, 1935 in Cedar Rapids. His parents were Raymond and Velma Shelton of Cedar Rapids. He entered the Army in 1959 until 1961, then he was in the Reserves until 1965.

Ray and the former Mona Steiber were married October 15, 1961 in Hiawatha. He retired from Deco in Decorah, then went to work seasonal at the Waukon City Park. Ray was an avid fisherman and loved his bowling.

Ray is survived by four children: Dennis (Rhonda) Shelton of Clarence, Rick Shelton of La Crosse, WI, Ron (Kim) Shelton of Waukon and Ginny (Bob) Schlitter of Waterville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roy (Linda) Shelton of Hopkinton. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mona; two daughters, Dawn Troendle and Sue Hinkely; his parents, Raymond and Velma Shelton; two sisters, Rosie Moore and Ruby Paul; and two great-grandchildren, Dane Snitzler and Grayson Troendle.
