Ronald Folsom

Ronald "Butch" Folsom, 87, of Cresco, formerly of Waukon, died at the Cresco Hospital June 14, 2017. Graveside services were held at the Cresco Cemetery June 17.

Ronald was born June 24, 1930 at Postville, the son of Milo and Alice (Meier) Folsom. He attended country school and two years of high school at Postville before leaving school to go home and help on the farm. After his father's death in 1963, Ronald farmed until 1967, when he sold out and moved to Waukon. He started working at Meadowland/Wisconsin Dairy, and at the age of 62 years he retired.

He cared and made a home for his mother until her passing in 1982, after which he moved to Cresco and married Irene Houdek, who passed away in 2002. He lived on their farm until his health failed, moving to Evans Nursing Home in Cresco, where he resided for the past three and a half years.

His love for horses continued all his life, and he had a large collection of horse statues, etc. He loved going to sales and collecting many things. His dream was to open a museum with all his collections.

Ronald is survived by two sisters, Jean Berge of Waukon and Patsy Kerndt of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; his brother, Charles "Chink" Folsom; his sister, Betty Ann Shafer; a sister-in-law, Pearl Folsom; and his brothers-in-law, Chester Evans, Carl Berge, Ralph Shafer and Donald Kerndt.
