Being able to make a difference in the lives of business owners she knows and loves is what Katie Danover of newly-established Evergreen Marketing in Waukon sees as the most rewarding aspect of owning her own business. Started just last month, Danover has established Evergreen Marketing as the only marketing agency of its kind in Allamakee County.

“I wanted to help local mom and pop businesses utilize agency-style marketing resources at an affordable price,” Danover says. "We customize every social management plan to each individual customer in order to help them get the best bang for their buck."

Danover recently moved to Waukon when her husband was transferred to Fareway’s Waukon location. The two were married earlier this year. “It was only natural for me to invest in the Waukon community alongside him," Danover said.

Having grown up in Waverly, Danover says she spent her childhood helping out at her grandfather's bank and her aunt's shoe store. "I always had a deep love for entrepreneurial projects and local competitions," she shared. "Since graduating from ISU, I've met the love of my life, who I married earlier this year, and we have two pups, Luna and Yogi."

Danover graduated from Iowa State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism & Mass Communication and Art & Design. She worked in a larger agency setting for two years at VGM Forbin in Waterloo before opening her own business.

She says the greatest challenge for her in owning her own business is handling the many aspects of that business on her own. "Being the producer, administrator, saleswoman and marketer all rolled into one, running your own business requires a lot of hats," Danover explained.

Future plans for her business are to help as many small businesses as possible and begin expanding her team as the business grows. "Our company's mission statement is 'Faithfully providing honest and insightful marketing strategies to help our communities continually prosper'."

Evergreen Marketing is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information can be found by calling 319-215-6317 or visiting www.thisisevergreenmarketing.com.
